ENCOURAGING WORD
Purpose
The first Encouraging Word I wrote “Power to Get Up” was sent to a friend. After she read it and was encouraged, she requested to take it to her son in prison. I gladly consented. Later we learned that it had been circulating throughout the prison and it was helping all of them. That’s when I began writing the Encouraging Word on a monthly basis just for him. But since I knew several more mothers whose sons were in prison or in drug rehabs struggling with overcoming addictions, I decided to send to them as well. The demand grew to sending these to pastors, friends, the elderly, and even giving them away on the Sunday Down South Radio program. We also sent it to our pastor in Liberia, West Africa since poverty is devastating their country and the need for encouragement is so great. He is using them as a teaching tool in his church. When I began writing these, I had no idea the need for encouragement was so great.
